Sherril’s 3rd blog post

Well, I had to figure out how to get to the blog altogether, did that, and published my second blog using the Publish icon – all good except I published it twice, by accident. This will be better. Can’t believe week 3 is over already – we are learning so much and I feel much more competent in using the computer. Of course, 2007 is easy to use, once you get the hang of it. I don’t feel quite so disconnected from the world of technology, anymore. But, I know, I am not grown up enough YET to get a Blackberry! When that happens, I will know that I have arrived! Loved seeing Michelle again today – she is very energizing. Stacy’s presentation this morning was extremely interesting. Her background is so varied, that she can advise and teach us techniques on presenting ourselves with confidence, walking, closing a door, sitting with feet in t formation – I didn’t know any of that! All the more reason to soak up every little tidbit from all the experienced and inspiring staff. I am becoming fond of all my classmates and hope that we will continue to have contact after we part ways in March.

Sherril’s Second Week Blog Posting

Hard to believe that two weeks have passed already. I am THOROUGHLY enjoying my classes. We had fun with Sherri Howe as we did the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory. The Hallmarks are very encouraging. My typing speed and accuracy is coming along, but would improve more if I practiced more. Have to get the computer room de-cluttered and better organized and then, nothing will be in my way!

I love 2007 – work with 2003 at home, and am learning to navigate it, but this newer version certainly is more user friendly.

Week 3 even better the 2nd!

Wow! I get more every day. Our guest speaker just left (she was also our sales & marketing instructor). I’m happy she was the speaker today. She loves what she does. Her wonderful attitude is infectious and inspiring! Coming to PDTC was a great move on my part.

Sherril’s First Blog!!!!

Who would have ever thought 3 months ago, that I would be blogging – I feel so grown up!!!! The Professional Development and Training Center is a blessing to someone, such as me. I am almost 63, out of a job (thank heavens!), looking for a position, (which I am sure is out there) nervous about the level of my skill set (particularly with regard to computer literacy) in today’s job market. I have found safety and security in this warm and nurturing environment; after only two weeks, my self-confidence and enthusiasm is being restored and I feel optimistic again.

My experience at PDTC day 9

I have enjoyed my first week and a half at PDTC .I have learned many skills that will be very helpful not just in the business world but in everyday situations. I’ve learned how to properly introduce myself to others and that everyone could be a potential employer and my computer skills have increased. I am very happy that I took a chance with this class and I’m looking forward to the next week.

New student @ PDTC

I am at the end of my second week with PDTC. I am in the business administration certificate program. At first I had a hard time because the material we were covering I already knew. Am I happy that I stuck it out!!!!! I am learning so much now and my instructors are great! This is defiantly a program I would recommend to anyone who needs to step up their game in the business world.

Focus on the Future

It is difficult to believe that we are down to the last few days of classes at Professional Development & Training Center (PDTC). The past six weeks went by like six days, but the skills that we have developed will last a lifetime. Before attending PDTC I was focused on the past concentrating on the negative things that lead to a job loss. Now I look forward to finding a new career utilizing the skills I possessed that were further developed at PDTC and the new ones I have learned in the classes. Now I can create a professional newsletter, a brochure, spreadsheets, invitations and mail merge plus develop and deliver a PowerPoint presentation making me much more valuable to prospective employers. The goal now is to keep moving forward by finding a new job and continuing my business education. Mark Stanczak

PDTC Community Gem!

I would just like to say what an excellent community resource PDTC is! I am a graduating student this month (woo-hoo) and I am just thrilled! It has been a very educational and enlightening experience. I have benefited tremendously from the refreshed and updated computer skills -to the new “networking”, people/soft skills I have learned. Truly- Michele
